Last week a massive order of plush toys was shipped to Love and Clutter in Hobart, this is the first time I have made red bunnies and they look so cute. If you are in Hobart drop into Love and Cutter and check out the cool items that they have in stock and see if you can spot some of The Purple Finch plush toys as well.

Don’t you just love handmade gifts? I sure do, now I’m not talking about designer handmade like what you get at a market or see online. I am talking about a different kind of handmade.
I little while back my little sister who is 7 years old made me two earrings, One day when I went over to my mums house I got a cute little package from my sister. The out side of this little handmade envelop had some writing on it reading “To Vicki Love Samantha” and it was filled with drawings of little hearts and kisses. Sam can’t spell my real name so she just shortened it. Anyway I opened up the little envelop and to my surprise there was two sets of earrings that she had made. I will have to say for a 7 year old she did a fantastic job with matching the beads and assembling the earrings together. So a big well done to my little sister it is always so nice when you get a little gift out of the blue which you know that a lot of love and effort has gone into it. I think these types of gifts are the best.
Samantha

The earrings

Do you have a cool handmade gift story? Would love to hear it.

Today I want to introduce you to Pizpireta I came across this beautiful etsy store and I have to say that I just adore the rings and brooch designs that Pizpireta make. My favourite one would have to be the clown ring its just far too cute.

Below is a little feature interview
Can you tell me a bit about your self?
Well…quite difficult…I live on Madrid, but I’m from a very little city 3 hundred kms away…I studied Arts on Salamanca University, and I am working as a graphic designer in a advertising company.
Can you tell me a bit about your work?
Pizpireta was born almost a year ago but before this I made a lot of stuff during my studies… I made all of the illustration of the things I sell!!

How did you get started?
Uff… It was so long ago I cannot almost remember!! I made some rings and ear-rings for some medieval markets…I get dress as a medieval woman and sell my stuff!
How long have you been creating?
About 15 years ago.. My father help at the beginning!
Where can we find you work?

Thanks to all who attended the opening, it was a fantastic night and the display of work was amazing. I made the first sale of the exhibition which really made my night.
If you have not had a chance to check out the exhibition you should go down to the Design Centre and look at all the amazing work. The show is on until the 18th of October.
Damien Quilliam (Curator of Contemporary Australian at the Art Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery) made the most amazing opening speech I would have to say it was the best opening speech I have ever heard.
So what is on show…
Photography work by Alan Moyle (my super talented husband) one word for his work ”brilliant”

Tara Badcock – Hand embroidery on silk cushions they had birds and flowers on them and were just works of art like all of Tara’s work. Amazing!
Cat from Cat Rabbit -Crafted a Tasmanian devil and fox plushie “so want the fox to go with our collection of Cats work”
Maya and Sam from Hideyo – Made lovely seed pods out of rice paper, and the most amazing door hanging.
Erin Tappe – Crafted cool little birds out of milk cartons and other recycled material. I just loved the idea.
Anita Dineen – Work consisted of beautiful rings, a thimble, hatpin, ear rings, pendants and lockets. I am so in love with Anita’s work.
Helen Goninon – Tweedledum and Tweedledee native hens “these two were just cute”
Omar Misa – Crochet Toast “loved the concept of the crochet toast”
The Purple Finch – Masked owl bush rangers and the starry eyed owl “My work ”
Ghostpatrol – Created the amazing mural that is on the wall this is a must see…. Also there is a secret hidden bit of work that is part of the mural display “can you work out where it is…”
Megan Perkins – Honey blossom broaches – beautifully made love the detail in these.
If you go to the design centre you should check out the catalogue which displays the work on exhibition, and its on sale and it’s a limited edition.
Thanks to Astrid and the Design Centre for holding the exhibition and to my husband Alan Moyle for organising it and being amazing!
Also I have to say thanks to Sam for volunteering at the event pouring drinks, you are a champ I know I so owe you one…
